Prototyping tool for complex, logic-heavy interactive mockups
Axure RP is a desktop application for building detailed interactive prototypes. The differentiator is logic: conditional interactions, dynamic panels, variables, expressions and repeaters let you simulate multi-step flows, validated forms and data-driven lists that simpler prototyping tools cannot express. Alongside the prototype it generates specification documents and flow diagrams, which is why enterprise and regulated teams still use it for handoff. Recent versions add a little AI assistance for drafting text and arranging widgets, but the product remains a craftsmanship tool for complex interaction design rather than an AI generator.

Axure wins when a prototype needs real logic: conditional branches, variables, form validation and data-driven lists. Figma is faster for visual and collaborative work, but reproducing that behaviour there usually means plugins or custom code.
Only in a limited way. Recent versions add assistance for drafting text and generating widget arrangements. There is no prompt-to-prototype system, and the value of the product still comes from building logic by hand.
It has traditionally been a paid per-seat licence with optional paid upgrades rather than a monthly subscription. Axure Cloud for publishing and review is a separate service, so factor both into the total cost.
