Animaze

Webcam-driven 3D avatar app for streamers, VTubers and video calls

What is Animaze?

Animaze, from the team behind FaceRig, turns a webcam or an iPhone into a face tracker and drives a 3D avatar with the result for streaming, video calls or recording. It ships with a large avatar library and supports importing custom models, and the tracker handles head rotation, blinks, mouth shapes and some hand motion without a headset. The desktop app runs on Windows and macOS, while the mobile version uses the phone's depth sensors for higher-fidelity tracking. A free version adds a watermark and limits features, and paid tiers remove it. It is a real-time performance tool rather than a video generator.

FAQ

Do I need special hardware?

No. An ordinary webcam is enough for the desktop application, and the mobile version uses the phone's front-facing sensors for better tracking. Depth cameras and tracking headsets are optional extras rather than requirements.

Can I use my own character model?

Yes, custom models can be imported, and that is the main reason VTubers choose it. Test the rig first, because not every model includes the blendshapes the tracker needs to drive a face properly.

Why does the avatar jitter?

Usually lighting or occlusion. Tracking wants a reasonably lit, unobstructed face, so strong backlighting, glare on glasses and hands across the mouth break it. A brighter room fixes most of it.
